Song 1 : Why Not Me – Forrest.

Everyone has their “go to” song or playlist, that song doesn’t necessarily have to be your favorite, but everyone has that one song they HAVE to listen to. What’s yours? I recently started to listen to this song called “Why Not Me” by an artist called Forrest. This song makes my emotions feel free spirited, and joyful. When describing this song, one might say it is very “uplifting” and “vibey” by the beats carried throughout the song, but if you listen closely and analyze the lyrics, it is actually really sad . The lyrics in this song talk about the best things in life are free, but if that is true, why is he not happy? “oh all the best in life is free; so why not me?”. Forrest continues to talk about how he never asked to be happy in the first place, “I never once asked the sun to shine on me; shine on me”. Sunshine can often be associated with happiness, so when the artist says he never asked for the sunshine, it can be translated as him saying he never asked to be happy. In the end however, this song makes me feel delighted and content.
